The Ogun State command of the Nigeria Police Force has declared a senior officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Superintendent Route Commander Funmilayo Oluwamayokun, and her teenage daughter, Sewa Lasisi, missing after they disappeared from their residence in Abeokuta.
The police confirmed that both mother and daughter have not been seen or heard from since Sunday, November 2, prompting a full-scale search.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the FRSC officer and her daughter left their home at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, without indicating where they were headed.
Since then, multiple attempts by family members, neighbours, and colleagues to reach them have failed as their mobile phones remain switched off.
Odutola said the case was formally reported at the Kemta Divisional Police Headquarters on Tuesday, November 5, by an FRSC colleague accompanied by concerned relatives.
Oluwamayokun, a 38-year-old senior operational officer, is responsible for coordinating enforcement activities across multiple routes under the FRSC Abeokuta Unit.
Her sudden disappearance, alongside her child, has sparked anxiety within the corps and the community.
“The Ogun State Police Command is seeking the assistance of the general public in locating one SRC Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun… and her daughter, Sewa Lasisi, who have been declared missing,” the statement read.
The Police PRO added that the Commissioner of Police has directed a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
She assured that detectives have already begun tracing their last known movements and reviewing all available leads.
“All efforts to reach them on the phone have proved abortive,” Odutola said, describing the case as one that requires urgent public cooperation.
The command urged members of the public with credible information to immediately contact the nearest police station.
Odutola assured that all information provided “will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” as the police work to secure the safe return of the missing officer and her daughter.
