Serie A giants ready ‘huge’ offer for award-winning Super Eagles star

Reigning Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly preparing a huge bid for Super Eagles star forward and current African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman as they look to make the Atalanta talisman their third signing of the summer, Footynaija.com understands.

Napoli have hit the ground running this summer, wasting no time in reinforcing their 2024/2025 Scudetto-winning squad with the eye-catching addition of former Manchester City maestro Kevin De Bruyne as well as high-rated Italian defensive prospect Luca Marianucci, who they signed from Serie A rivals Empoli.

The Italian champions have reportedly now turned their attention to Lookman, a player they have been linked with for the better part of this year, as they seek to make him their third arrival after De Bruyne and Marianucci.

According to Singapore-based media outlet Channels News Asia, The Partenopei are ready to offer €50 million for Lookman’s services. However, that amount is €10 million shy of Atalanta’s asking price for their Nigerian gem.

While the former Leicester City and Fulham forward is thought to be intrigued by a potential return to the Premier League, the allure of joining Antonio Conte’s Serie A conquerors could well play a key role in Lookman’s decision about where he will take his talents next.

Atalanta’s new manager Ivan Juric recently voiced his desire to keep the Super Eagles star in Bergamo but it appears the former Southampton boss would have to start his tenure at the club without La Dea’s best player for the past three years.

After a spectacular three-year stint that has seen him register 73 goal contributions (52G, 21A) in 118 appearances for Atalaanta, it appears increasingly likely that Lookman will not be wearing La Dea’s blue and black stripes next season.
