Authorities have officially banned Napoli fans from attending the highly anticipated Juventus-Napoli Serie A clash, scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Soccernet.football reports.

The decision, which includes the cancellation of tickets already sold to Napoli supporters, comes after law enforcement expressed concerns over potential clashes between fans.

Local authorities, including the Prefecture of Turin and the police, raised alarms about the risk of violence following the previous incidents during Napoli’s away match against Cagliari.

Approximately 2,300 tickets had already been sold to Napoli fans for the away section, but over 3,000 ultras from Naples were expected to travel to Turin, heightening the security risk.

Following consultations with the National Observatory on Sporting Events (CASMS), the recommendation was made to ban all ticket sales to residents of Campania, the region where Naples is located.

In a statement as per FootItalia, SSC Napoli confirmed the measures, stating: “The Prefect of Turin has decreed the prohibition of ticket sales to residents in the province of Naples, even if in possession of the SSC Napoli loyalty card, excluding holders of the Juventus F.C. loyalty card issued before September 21, 2024, and simultaneously the cancellation of tickets already sold.”

The restrictions extend beyond the away section, with ticket sales for the entire stadium being halted for Campania residents. The move aims to prevent any escalation of tensions between rival fan bases and to ensure the safety of all attendees.

Despite the off-pitch issues, the Juventus-Napoli match remains a crucial encounter in the Serie A calendar.

Both teams are vying for a strong start to their title ambitions this season.

Juventus, unbeaten in their first four league matches, will look to maintain their impressive defensive record, while Napoli, under new manager Antonio Conte, have bounced back from an opening-day loss to Verona and are riding high on a three-match winning streak.

However, the absence of Napoli fans could impact the atmosphere in what is set to be a highly charged contest between two of Italy’s biggest clubs.
