Republican Representative at the United States (US) Congress, Doug LaMalfa of California, is dead.
Naijaonpoint reports that LaMalfa’s colleague, Rep Riley Moore, confirmed the demise in a post on his verified 𝕏 handle on Tuesday.
He wrote, “Please join Mina and me in praying for the repose of Congressman Doug LaMalfa’s soul and for his wife and children.
“Eternal rest grants unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.”
The ugly development further shrinks Republicans’ narrow majority in the House of Representatives ahead of the November elections that will determine control of Congress.
In other news, Moore has vowed that the US will continue in its fight against insurgency in Nigeria.
The lawmaker, while speaking in an interview with Newsmax, stated that the United States will not back down in protecting Nigerian Christians.
He was reacting to a recent threat by the ISIS terrorists, who asked Christians to choose between death and Islam.
In the interview, Moore said the United States, under the directive of President Donald Trump, would continue to support Nigeria with necessary war equipment.
ISIS recently issued a statement saying Christians of Nigeria must either convert or die.
“We will never back down from supporting our brothers and sisters in Christ, and I’m glad to see the Nigerian government is working in coordination and cooperation with President Trump to defeat these radical Islamic terrorists”, he said.
