Seven members of the House of Representatives from opposition parties in Akwa Ibom State have joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Six of the lawmakers joined the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while one member dumped the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the APC.
The lawmakers from the PDP are Unyime Idem, Martins Esin, Paul Ekpo, Uduak Odudoh, Okpolu Etteha and Bassey Okon while Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo joined from the YPP.
Their defections might not be unconnected to the change of political tent by Governor Umo Eno who moved from the PDP to the APC in June 2025.
