During a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, Sherri Shepherd finally confirmed that the actress who confronted her months back at the Broadway premiere of Othello was Nia Long.
“The only time I’ve ever talked about Nia Long is when she went through it with her partner,” she told the radio cohosts. “I supported her and [said] that she should she deserves to have a good man to be with her.”
Shepherd continued, “There’s not a lot of Black women on TV, so I I have no idea who she thought was shading her, but it was not me. I have no beef with Nia Long; I’m a fan of hers. We’re grown women we’re both the same age so we can discuss it. That’s why I invited her on my show.”
In March, The Sherri Shepherd Show host opened up about a heated backstage moment with an A-list star but did not mention any names.
“I get along with everybody. I really do,” Shepherd shared with her audience. But on that day, things took an unexpected turn.
According to Sherri, just before taping, an “unnamed celebrity,” later revealed by a source to Page Six as Nia Long, approached her in a less-than-friendly way.
“I was standing there chatting with Khadeen and Devale Ellis, Devale’s on Sistas, when someone suddenly grabbed my arm and spun me around,” she recalled. Still in “a good mood,” Sherri tried to keep things positive.
“She says to me, ‘You’ve been shading me a lot,’” Sherri revealed at the time. “I said, ‘No, I haven’t,’ because I was really confused. And she goes, ‘Yes, you have.’ And then she just walked off.”
