Shettima in Bauchi

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Friday, arrived at the airport in Bauchi to represent President Bola Tinubu at the funeral prayer of the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

Naijaonpoint reports that Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the revered leader of the Tijjaniyya order in Nigeria, died on Thursday, November 17, 2025, a development earlier reported to have drawn widespread mourning across the country.

News of Sheikh Dahiru’s passing was first announced by his family on Thursday, triggering immediate reactions from Islamic leaders, northern elders, and political figures nationwide. Tributes described him as a bridge builder, spiritual mentor, and voice of peace in Nigeria.

Prominent Islamic clerics said the deceased dedicated over 60 years to Islamic propagation, civil mediation, and mentoring leaders across West Africa. His death prompted spontaneous prayers across states, including Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, and the FCT.

Among the Federal Government officials who travelled with Shettima to Bauchi were the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Minister of Information, Idris Mohammed; the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar.

Also in the delegation were Senator Abdul’aziz Yari and Senator Shehu Buba, along with the former Bauchi State Governor, Ahmed Mu’azu.

The Vice President is expected to join thousands of mourners in Bauchi for the burial and final prayer scheduled to hold later on Friday, in line with Islamic rites.
