WATCH THE VIDEO HERE VICE President Kashim Shettima’s trip to Samoa to represent Nigeria at the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit has been cancelled due to damage sustained by his plane from a foreign object during a stopover at JFK Airport in New York. In a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, it was reported that the foreign object impacted the cockpit windscreen of the aircraft. In response, President Tinubu has swiftly approved a ministerial delegation to take his place at the summit in Apia, the capital of Samoa, while repairs on the plane are underway. The delegation, now representing Nigeria at the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa, will be led by the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abass Lawal. The summit commenced on October 21 and is scheduled to conclude on October 26. Vice President Shettima and Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar have since departed New York to return to Nigeria.
