The Martins Amaewhule-led House faction, aligned with ex-Governor Wike, had sought the panel over allegations against Fubara and his deputy.
But Justice Amadi revealed a binding High Court injunction specifically restraining him from acting on the impeachment, warning that proceeding would mean contempt of court. This legal blockade has effectively stalled the process, leaving Fubara and his deputy safe for now.
Lawmakers loyal to Wike may challenge the injunction, but until then, the judiciary insists on strict adherence to due process amid Rivers’ intense political showdown.
