Documents have surfaced online showing how Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, allegedly personally authorised allocations of Abuja lands to his relatives and associates in defiance of due process.

In a recent publication, The Peoples Gazette shared documents alleging that on July 16, amidst an ongoing federal probe, Wike personally signed off 33 new certificates of occupancy for relatives and associates.

Among them was his 90‑year‑old father, Joshua Nlemanya Wike, who received a 1,042 m² parcel worth an estimated ₦400 million in Guzape II (file #62783).

Also on the list: nephews, cousins, and eight members of associate James Hunwo’s family, all hailing from Rivers State.

These July allocations came on top of six prior grants in April 2025 to Wike’s siblings, Vincent, Chidi, Chituru, Christian, Collins, and Emmanuel, each securing between 2,158 and 2,813 m² in Guzape II under file numbers RV62586 through RV62605

Father granted land: On July 16, Wike approved a 1,042 m² plot in Guzape II for his 90‑year‑old father, Joshua Nlemanya Wike, valued at approximately ₦400 million.
Sibling and cousin parcels: That same day, another five family members, including nephews and cousins, received land in Guzape II.
Extended allocations: Earlier in April, plots spanning between 2,158m² and 2,813m² were approved for six siblings, including Vincent, Chidi, and Collins Wike.

Peoples Gazette claimed that Wike’s alleged looting extends to his sons, Jordan and Joaquin Wike, who reportedly received a combined 3,822 hectares of prime real estate across Abuja, valued conservatively at US$6.45 billion

Jordan’s allotment: 1,740 hectares worth $2.85 billion, including seized land from the Austrian Embassy
Joaquin’s holdings: 2,082 hectares valued at $3.6 billion, allocated between October 2024 and May 2025

Administrative Breakdown and Political Impunity

It was alleged that the allocations were processed via hastily convened bureaucratic sessions at the FCTA.

Town planning officials, dumbfounded, initially thought the order was a prank, only to have Wike personally sign over the lands despite obvious conflicts of interest.

Officials disclosed the Minister directed preferential approvals without required payments for bills, registration, or ground rent, breaching constitutional ethics code

According to The Peoples Gazette, an aide recounted Wike’s justification: “I want my children to be the largest landowners in Abuja.”

President Tinubu Orders Investigation, but Action Hinges on His Office

Naijaonpoint understands that in late June, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu instructed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to spearhead a probe into the transactions.

Although the SGF office and possibly anti-graft agencies (EFCC, ICPC) have been roped in, no formal steps have emerged publicly since the directive.

Anti-corruption campaigner Patience Okonkwo described the allocations as “unconscionable,” urging immediate sanctions.

However, with Wike reportedly wielding enough political clout to intimidate accountability and possibly financing Tinubu’s re-election bid, experts warn the investigation may stall unless finalised before 2027.

The Peoples Gazette had, on July 4, 2025, published an article exposing how Wike allegedly repurposed land administration to enrich his family.

In a swift reaction, the FCT Minister reportedly summoned an urgent meeting with town planning bureaucrats at the FCTA, where he unveiled a new list of individuals for expedited land approvals: his family members and friends.

“The minister said he was pissed that the media was making an issue of his decision to allocate lands to his children,” an official with details of how the meeting unfolded told journalists.

“So he decided to expand his inventory of beneficiaries.”

According to officials, Wike had given them 38 names of family and friends to allocate lands, including chums from his teenage years, which prompted them to simultaneously wonder how serious he could possibly be about the assignment.

“We thought it was a prank and assumed among ourselves that he wouldn’t be that reckless,” an official told The Peoples Gazette.

“Then he started actually signing the rights of occupancy for the allotments days later.”

When contacted on the development, Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga reportedly told The Peoples Gazette to direct questions about Wike’s conduct to the minister’s media aides.

However, a spokesman for Wike reportedly declined to comment when contacted on the latest development.

Meanwhile, the Minister has maintained no wrongdoing following previous revelations, falsely asserting that granting lands to his family members did not violate Nigerian laws.
