The Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes back together in 2026 through Avengers: Doomsday. From several new heroes in The Multiverse Saga joining forces with old ones, the team-up film will also see Fox’s X-Men returning once again.

ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan recently spoke with Simu Liu for his new film, In Your Dreams, where Avengers: Doomsday got brought up, as he was asked to give three words to describe it. Liu revealed, “Yeah, three: dream come true.”

The Shang-Chi actor went on to add, “I mean, there are just so many actors in it, and getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them.” Liu’s MCU return was first revealed on March 26, 2025, during Marvel Studios’ big surprise stream, unveiling the Avengers: Doomsday cast.

For the MCU rookie, he looks at the Phase 6 installment as a celebration of the beloved genre. Liu elaborated that “It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.”

Liu concluded by sharing how this movie is “for all the misfits and the weirdos and the underdogs that grew up reading comic books and feeling like there was hope for them somehow – that it didn’t matter if they didn’t fit in – I think there’s just always a special place in my heart for that entire genre.”

Despite the many reveals from the initial line-up for the December 2026 entry, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige mentioned during CinemaCon on April 3, 2025, that they haven’t actually revealed the full cast. Anthony and Joe Russo directed the ensemble film and will also helm Avengers: Secret Wars.

The next theatrical installment in the MCU timeline will be Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will see the return of Tom Holland’s web-slinger, after the conclusion of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s currently unknown if Peter Parker is part of Avengers: Doomsday at all.

While Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026, there is no word yet on when the first trailer will be released.

In Your Dreams will be released on Netflix on November 14.
