Nigerian singer Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa, popularly known as Joeboy, recently made fans laugh when he shared a viral recording of his mother playfully teasing him about marriage, despite his chart-topping success.
Joeboy posted a screen recording of a voice note he received from his mother on his official X page. Just minutes before sharing the recording, he humorously teased his followers, saying, “Can’t believe what I woke up to this morning.”
He followed that with a dramatic caption, stating, “Help! I’m in danger,” alongside a crying emoji.
In the audio clip, Joeboy’s mother expressed her pride and emphasized the urgency of his marital status. She said, “All this your music, blowing up everywhere, enjoyment. Let me tell you, you have blown—no doubt about that. But when will you blow into marriage? Your mates are getting married everywhere. What are you doing? I have told all my friends my son will get married soon.”
Fans quickly reacted to Joeboy’s post with laughter, filling the comments with crying-laughing emojis and sharing their own experiences of parental pressure. Some fans even suggested he turn his mother’s recording into a song.
In response to the teasing, Joeboy changed his X handle to “Bachelor.”
