Single Term: ‘Peter Obi’s Words Are Sincere, Unlike Other Politicians’ – PDP Chieftain, Ulasi

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dan Ulasi, has expressed confidence that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, will fulfil his four-year term pledge.

Naijaonpoint reports that Peter Obi recently reiterated that if elected in 2027, he would serve for only four years and would not seek re-election.

However, Peter Obi’s promise has attracted criticism from some quarters, with some politicians expressing skepticism.

In an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday, Ulasi said Peter Obi’s words are sincere, describing him as an honest person.

He said, “I believe Peter Obi’s words are sincere. Unlike the usual crop of politicians in Nigeria, he is honest. The constitution guarantees only a 4-year term, which can be renewed by the people.

“Obi has not said anything out of the ordinary; he believes he can accomplish a great deal in those four years.”

Meanwhile, Peter Obi has insisted that he plans to govern Nigeria for only one term if elected as President, adding that turning the tide in four years is possible.

Naijaonpoint reports that the former Labour Party presidential candidate stated this while reacting to widespread criticism over his promise to do one term.

In a statement on Tuesday, Peter Obi expressed surprise that his decision to do four years is generating so much agitation.

He stated that, going by the reactions, critics are doubting the fact that a sincere leader can achieve much in 48 months.
