Single-term Proposal: Where Do We Place Your Current Campaign Of Calumny Against Tinubu? – Presidency Knocks El-Rufai

Nasir El Rufai and President Bola Tinubu

The presidency has slammed former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, over what it described as his double-standard criticism against the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Naijaonpoint reports that El-Rufai, in an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, stated that it is impossible to effect any meaningful change within four years.

El-Rufai made the statement while reacting to the single-term proposal of the Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to serve for four years if elected as president in 2027.

Reacting to El-Rufai’s statement, President Tinubu’s aide, Temitope Ajaiyi, berated the former Governor for contradicting himself.

Ajaiyi urged the former Minsister of the Capital Territory (FCT) to reflect on what he said on Channels TV and his current adversarial position against President Tinubu.

The presidential aide questioned that if El-Rufai knew that four years are not enough to make any meaningful change or transformation, where can they place his current campaign of calumny against Tinubu.

He said, “Yesterday evening, on national television, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the enfant terrible of Nigerian politics, declared that NOBODY makes a meaningful change in governance within 4 years.

“That is a statement of fact and yet a contradiction from the same man.

“I hope the former Governor of Kaduna State can take a step back to reflect on what he said on Channels TV and his current adversarial position against President Tinubu.

“It beggars believe that El-Rufai started a scorched earth campaign against the administration of Tinubu when the government was less than a year in office.

“If El-Rufai knew that 4 years are not enough to make any meaningful change or transformation, where do we then place his current campaign of calumny?”
