WATCH THE VIDEO HERE SIX passengers have been confirmed dead following a crash involving two vehicles near Verona, Ogere, in Ogun State, along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway. The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident in a statement released today in Abeokuta, the state capital. She noted that three other passengers sustained injuries in the accident. According to Okpe, the crash was likely caused by excessive speed from a Sienna Space Bus, which collided with a moving truck from behind. “The crash involved two vehicles: an ash-coloured Toyota Sienna with registration number EPE692EL and a truck that could not be identified as it did not stop after the crash,” she stated. She added that the injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital in Ogere, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the FOS IPARA Morgue. The Ogun Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, described the crash as avoidable, emphasising that proper caution could have prevented it. He further urged motorists to remain fully focused while driving and to adhere to all traffic regulations. Fasakin also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
