At least six people have died and two others have been seriously injured after a medical light aircraft crashed into a residential area near Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, on Thursday.

The plane, which took off from Wilson Airport in Nairobi at 2:17 p.m. local time, was headed to Somaliland but went down shortly after 3:00 p.m. in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Confirming the tragic incident to AFP, Kiambu County Commissioner, Henry Wafula, said, “We have lost four people, including the pilot… it was all fatal.”

He added that two others on the ground also died, while two more sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Emergency responders swiftly cordoned off the area, while aviation authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Ghana Ministers, Military Crew Perish In Helicopter Crash

Meanwhile, Ghana is also reeling from the loss of key government and military officials following an army helicopter crash on Wednesday in the Ashanti Region, killing eight people.

Those killed include Ghana’s Defence Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, and Environment Minister, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, who were en route to Obuasi for an anti-illegal mining campaign.

According to reports, the helicopter, operated by the Ghana Armed Forces, departed from Accra at 09:12 am local time but lost contact with radar mid-flight, sparking a frantic search. Hours later, photos of the crash site began circulating on social media, showing the charred wreckage.

The crash also claimed the lives of other senior figures, including:

Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, former Minister of Agriculture and Deputy National Security Coordinator

Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)
