Cyriel Dessers has been nominated for Rangers’ Player of the Month award for March after a standout run of form, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian forward was a big performer for Rangers last month, scoring important goals and stepping up in high-pressure games.

According to the official Rangers website, Dessers “capped off his 100th appearance for the Light Blues with a dramatic stoppage time winner against Dundee on Saturday evening.”

He also played a big part in Rangers’ famous 3–1 first-leg win over Fenerbahce in Turkey, where “he contributed heavily” and linked up well with his teammates in attack.

In that match, Dessers scored one and assisted another, helping Barry Fergusons side take control of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 tie.

His total stats for the month were solid: 3 goals and 1 assist across all competitions in March, including big moments in the Old Firm derby and in Europe.

It is part of a strong overall season for the 30-year-old, who has now racked up 22 goals and 7 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.

He is enjoying a purple patch under Barry Ferguson, leading the line with confidence and consistency.

But even with those numbers, Dessers did not make the cut for Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the March 2025 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

He was named in Eric Chelle’s 39-man provisional list but was dropped when the final squad for the games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe was announced. His omission raised a few eyebrows, especially considering Nigeria’s recent goal-scoring issues.

With the likes of Victor Osimhen already delivering for the Super Eagles, Dessers would have added extra firepower or at least provided a strong option off the bench.

Still, he continues to make his mark at club level and could force his way back into Eric Chelle’s plans if he maintains this form.

For now, Rangers fans can vote for him as their top performer for March, and with silverware still on the line, Dessers will be looking to finish the season even stronger.
