The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a notorious bandit and recovered an AK-49 rifle along with live ammunition during a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
The arrest, which took place on Saturday, July 13, 2025, was carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit following a credible tip-off.
The suspect, identified as Buba Magaji, a resident of Julirkol village in Silami Local Government Area, was apprehended for his alleged ties to the dreaded Lakurawa bandit syndicate.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, stated, “Magaji is believed to be a key associate of the gang, which has been responsible for a spate of criminal attacks across several local government areas, including Silami, Wamakko, Binji, and Yabo.
