Soludo Defeats APC Candidate, Ukachukwu In His LGA

The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has defeated his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Nnewi South Local Government Area, the latter’s home council.

The result was announced late Saturday by the INEC Collation Officer for the area.

According to the figures declared, Soludo secured 17,286 votes, outpacing Ukachukwu, who garnered 9,281 votes to place second in the APC strongman’s home base.

The collation officer disclosed that 102,907 voters were registered in the LGA, with 27,937 accredited for the election.

In a related development, Soludo defeated George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) and John Chuma-Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in their own local government area, Nnewi North.

Both Moghalu and Chuma-Nwosu hail from Nnewi North, while Soludo is from Isuofia in Aguata LGA.

The Collation Officer for Nnewi North LGA announced the results early Sunday at the State Collation Centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the figures:

APGA (Soludo) – 20,320 votes

APC (Nicholas Ukachukwu) – 5,441 votes

LP (George Moghalu) – 1,140 votes

YPP (Paul Chukwuma) – 1,100 votes

ADC (John Chuma-Nwosu) – 553 votes
