The re-elected Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has expressed deep gratitude to residents of the state, describing his renewed mandate as both a “victory” and a “historic moment” for Anambra.
Naijaonpoint reports that Soludo spoke in Awka on Sunday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the 2025 governorship election, securing a second term alongside his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim.
Addressing supporters, the governor said the people of Anambra had demonstrated overwhelming confidence in his administration. He contrasted the 2025 election with his first victory in 2021, when turnout was significantly lower.
He said, “Four years ago, you spoke and gave us your mandate. Anambra experimented with BVAS for the first time, and the turnout was extremely low. You elected us with 112,000 votes.
“This time, you have spoken loudly. In terms of the percentage of registered voters who participated, about 22 percent voted in this election. Never before. You broke the 20 percent glass ceiling.”
Soludo noted that his victory placed him among a very small group of governors in Anambra who have secured re-election since 1999. He added that the scale of voter support in this poll was unprecedented.
“In 2010, a governor was re-elected with about 31 percent of the votes cast. In 2017, another was re-elected with 56 percent. In this one, you re-elected us with 73 percent of the votes. I am humbled by this solidarity and support,” he said.
He described the outcome as the strongest endorsement any governor has received in the history of the state.
The governor assured residents that his administration would intensify development projects across the state, promising that the next four years would deliver even greater progress.
Soludo said, “We applied for this job. You employed us four years ago. What I can say, as we stated throughout the campaign, is that you have not seen anything yet.
“Like the Americans would say, ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet.’ I want to say, with this trust, in partnership with you… over the next four years we can say loudly that we ain’t seen nothing yet.”
