A security expert, Commodore Promise Dappa (retd.), has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, for his silence on the country’s insecurity.
Naijaonpoint reports that Dappa, while speaking on security intelligence in Nigeria and charting a pathway to 2026, in an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, said the solution to insecurity in Nigeria lies in the office of Tinubu.
According to Dappa, Gbajabiamila as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, conducted a comprehensive security retreat in the country, and the communique released afterwards was equally comprehensive.
He said, “There are some basic things to do. I want to tell President Bola Tinubu that the key, solution to this problem of insecurity is right there in his office.
“His Chief of Staff, when he was the Speaker of the House of Representatives, conducted a comprehensive security retreat in this country, and the communique that was released after that retreat was very comprehensive.
“Everything I’ve been talking about here that needs to be done is in that document. Why would he be in the corridor of power today, and he has been silent over that? That is very unfortunate.
“The current Minister of Defence, when he was the Chief of Defence Staff, at the risk of his appointment, talked about border security in this country, that you cannot have a secure Nigeria without a secure border.
“A lot of people criticised him, saying he was criticising government, and he has mentioned it, and we are having a budget today that does not capture border security. When do we start talking about border security.”
