A woman who has sued rapper Soulja Boy for sexual assault testified about the abuse she says she faced at his hands for months during their relationship.

Jane Doe claims that she worked for years in the music industry as an assistant to several different rappers before she met Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, in 2018. She says the rapper offered her a job as his assistant, which included cleaning the house and rolling blunts. She was paid $500 a week plus room and board.

Jane Doe says the mansion was nice, but her room only contained an air mattress. She says that once she moved in, she was not allowed to leave the house, not even to buy a toothbrush or feminine products, and that her phone went missing. Doe says she tried to escape weekly but could not leave.

“I wanted to die,” Doe testified while in tears. “I didn’t want to be there anymore. I just wanted to go home.”

She says the rapper would frequently call her “stupid dumb b—h,” “ugly bumpy-faced b—h” and “retarded,” and that he would threaten her with his automatic rifles to keep her in line.

“Soulja used to point a gun at me,” she continued. “I felt like he was willing to pull it if I did something wrong.” She also said that Way had threatened, at least once, to “send shooters to my mom’s house.”

Doe alleged the rapper would hit her on her chest area, her arms, and her ribs, and if he was “very mad,” he would hit her in her face. She also alleged he sexually assaulted her.

“He usually had a group of people at the house,” she said. “If there was no women around at night, he would grab me. He would call me to come do something, and he would just pull my pants down and start having s-x with me.”

Doe claims she was 150 pounds when she began working for the rapper. By the time she managed to get away, she was reportedly just 86 pounds.

Jane Doe is suing Way for sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, gender violence, and a range of labor violations, including hostile work environment, constructive discharge, and failure to pay minimum wage.
