Southampton’s interim manager Simon Rusk has offered an update on the availability status of Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu ahead of their Premier League clash with Leicester City, Footynaija.com reports.

Onuachu, a notable absentee in Southampton’s 2-1 defeat to European football chasing Fulham last weekend, was sidelined due to injury.

However, the 30-year-old returned to full training earlier this week and he has now received the greenlight to partake in Southampton’s trip to East Midlands where they will lock horns with Leicester City on Saturday.

“We’re in good health. Paul’s been training over the last couple of days — he’s back in the mix, so that’s good news,” Rusk told the club’s official website.

“Across the board, we’ve had strong training numbers this week, so we’ve pretty much got a clean bill of health as things stand today.”

Onuachu’s return from injury certainly comes as a huge boost for the Saints, who will be looking to come out on top of a battle between two EFL Championship bound teams following their relegation from the English top-flight.

With four goals in his last twelve outings in Southampton colours, Onuachu remains one the most impactful players available to Rusk ahead of their trip to the King Power Stadium.

Having recorded just two victories all season, with no wins in their last ten league outings, a game against another team in the bottom three presents a decent opportunity for the Saints to give their fans a reason to cheer.

However, it will by no means be an easy task as Leicester City themselves will be looking to record a first victory in eleven Premier League outings.
