Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has issued a stern warning to the newly appointed spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Ben Hundeyin, cautioning him against following the footsteps of his predecessor, Muyiwa Adejobi.
Sowore’s remarks came in response to a statement by Adejobi—who recently left his post as Force Public Relations Officer—in which he described Hundeyin as his “chosen one.”
Taking to Twitter, Sowore warned that any attempt by Hundeyin to continue what he termed the “shenanigans” of Adejobi would end in disgrace.
“Suppose @BenHundeyin is coming to Abuja to continue the shenanigans of Muyiwa Adejobi (@Princemoye1) at the @policeng Force Headquarters. In that case, he should be told in plain language that he, too, will end in ignominy,” Sowore wrote.
The Sahara Reporters publisher accused Adejobi of prioritising propaganda and repression over justice during his tenure, warning that Nigerians would not tolerate a continuation of such practices.
“Those who choose propaganda over justice, repression over truth, and sycophancy over service always end the same way, in disgrace and ignominy. History has a way of exposing those who choose to serve repression instead of justice for the people,” Sowore added.
Sowore’s comments highlight growing scrutiny on the new police spokesman, as civil society groups and activists continue to demand greater transparency and accountability from the nation’s law enforcement agency.
