Sheffield United have set their sights on Botev Plovdiv star Ehije Ukaki and the Blades could potentially make a move for the young and exciting Nigerian winger, Footynaija.com understands.

According to reports from The Star, Ehije has been picked up by Sheffield United’s AI driven recruitment technology after enjoying a decent campaign for Botev Plovdiv in the Parva Liga last season.

The 2024/2025 EFL Championship playoffs finalists deployed the same AI technology in the recruitment of Ukaki’s compatriot and former Botev Plovdiv teammate Christian Nwachukwu and the 20-year-old could soon follow in the same direction.

However, while Ukaki has been identified by Sheffield United’s AI transfer model, the Blades are yet to show any indication that they will be looking to make an active attempt to secure his signature this summer.

More details on Ehije Ukaki

Ehije Ukaki joined Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv from the academy of Russian club FDC Vista in January 2024. Following his arrival, he went on to make 17 appearances for his new team.

However, it was in the 2024/2025 season that Ukaki rose to prominence in Botev Plovdiv colours. The 20-year-old made 27 First League starts and scored seven goals.

He impressed enough to earn plaudits from his manager Dusan Kerkez, who branded him a “special talent” after he scored a crucial goal to earn a point for Botev Plovdiv against Lokomotiv Sofia back in April.

Whether Sheffield United will look to explore a move for the exciting 20-year-old this summer or later in the future remains uncertain. If a move does materialize though, it will surely be a big step up in Ukaki’s budding career.
