Boba Fett has received the perfect name and title in an all-new Star Wars story, one he’s deserved since he made his debut nearly 50 years ago. One of the most popular Star Wars characters of all time, Boba Fett’s reputation as a bounty hunter very much preceded him wherever he went in the galaxy (something this new tale very much confirms).

Boba Fett is best known for making his first live-action appearance in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back. That said, he actually first debuted in 1978’s Star Wars Holiday Special via an animated sequence, befriending and later betraying the heroes of the Rebellion on behalf of the Empire.

Since then, the infamous bounty hunter has been the subject of several books, games, comics, and even his own Disney+ series in 2021, including Marvel’s new and canonical Boba Fett: Black, White, & Red #2 by Saladin Ahmed and Ramon Rosanas, which has granted Fett the title he’s always deserved.

Star Wars’ Newest Boba Fett Tale Confirms His Impressive Status Among Other Bounty Hunters

In this new Boba Fett comic, the titular bounty hunter is tracking down one “Samu the Scurrier”, a lowlife con-man whose reputation for escaping rivals Fett’s as a hunter. Initially, Samu believes he can outrun and evade Fett like so many before, and he even tries convincing others to lend him money so he can simply bribe Fett to call off his hunt.

However, the reality of who Boba Fett is and what he’s capable of hits Samu hard as the armored professional just keeps on coming. Eventually, Samu is told the harsh truth about his situation and odds of escaping:

“Boba Fett’s not a bounty hunter…he’s THE bounty hunter.“

This key distinction truly is the perfect new name for Boba Fett, especially given everything we know about him and his extremely high success rate in the established Star Wars canon.

Boba Fett being referred to as “The Bounty Hunter” of his time makes all the sense in the world, particularly during the Imperial Era. After all, the same was just as true for Boba’s father Jango Fett (prior to his death in Attack of the Clones).

Likewise, it’s widely believed that Boba became the galaxy’s greatest bounty hunter following the end of the Clone Wars, surpassing the legendary Cad Bane, whom Fett killed in The Book of Boba Fett. While Din Djarin is impressive in his own right, there couldn’t be a more fitting and impressive title for Boba Fett, one of the most popular Star Wars characters of all time.
