One of the longest-running mysteries in the Star Wars canon has finally been solved, demystifying one of the least explained elements of the Force. Where previous lore had confirmed spirits of the dead pass into an afterlife within the Cosmic Force, fans finally get to witness the closest thing to a ‘Jedi Heaven’ they’re ever going to see.
The Force’s Version of Heaven is Revealed, Filled With Jedi Spirits
The Most Explicit Vision of The Netherworld of The Force Fans Have Have Seen
Ironically enough, the first official look at an undeniable realm, plane, or cosmic ‘location’ where Force spirits reside comes courtesy of Kylo Ren. With Snoke dead, and Rey rejecting his hand, the Star Wars: Legacy of Vader series follows Kylo Ren at the heights of his rage following The Last Jedi. So in search of a target, like always, Kylo Ren seeks out what remains of Luke Skywalker.
His Force meditation proves a massive success, using his deep and tortured memories of training at Luke’s side to transport his mind to Luke’s current location. Taking the form of a lush, sunbathed valley marked by the entrance to an ancient Jedi temple, Kylo Ren joins the readers in finally seeing the Netherworld of the Force, at long last.
Ben Solo is Able To Travel There Through The Force, But Not The Sith?

The number of blue-hued, luminous figures gathering in the valley are largely unseen in detail, with one robed member warning Kylo Ren that he should not be present in such a place. All attempts to attack the figure prove meaningless, confirming this spiritual realm can be visited by a living being’s mind, but remains beyond its influence. So too do the Force spirits of Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Yoda.
It is only Luke Skywalker himself who takes a recognizable physical form, to provide one final lesson to his wayward student. Providing further confirmation that this realm is where Jedi reside within the Netherworld of the Force, noting that if Ben Solo had truly fallen to the dark side, he would not be able to traverse this place at all.
While never mentioned in the original Star Wars trilogy, it was arguably always George Lucas’ intention to lead Luke towards this afterlife, with the first mention of “the netherworld of the Force” found in early screenplays of Return of the Jedi. Yoda would allude to Qui-Gon’s return from such a place in Revenge of the Sith, and the recent Tales of the Underworld even teased Asajj Ventress shifting towards the Force realm.
But with the idyllic setting certainly matching fan expectations, and featuring several seen and unseen Force spirits, Jedi among them, this is the clearest appearance of the Force netherworld a.k.a. ‘Heaven’ yet shown in modern Star Wars canon.
