Longtime ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith is catching major heat after weighing in on the family drama bubbling between Ray J, Brandy, and Beyoncé. Days after Ray J posted an Instagram video accusing Beyoncé and Jay Z of allegedly brushing off Brandy backstage during stops on the singer’s Boy Is Mine tour.
Smith decided to step into the conversation during a chat with The Shade Room, where he offered his take on Ray J’s fiery reaction, openly questioning why the reality star chose to air the moment publicly.
“What you caught up in your feelings for to the point where you have to broadcast it to the world?” he asked. “Why? There are worse things to happen to us than not have pictures taken with somebody.”
Smith went on to scold Ray J for oversharing, adding, “Why does everybody have to know everything?”
Ray J’s original video, posted in earlier this month and showed him calling out the Carters for allegedly failing to greet Brandy despite attending multiple shows.
He insisted Beyoncé and Jay Z could “just walk by Brandy’s room and pull up and say, ‘What’s up, B? Have a good show.’”
