talkSPORT’s own Faye Carruthers defeated Jordan Pickford in a traditional pre-Euro 2024 game of darts.

As is customary, the England camp faced members of the media at darts in the interest of relationship-building and having a bit of fun before the big kick-off.

However the Three Lions’ number one didn’t enjoy the occasion too much after facing England correspondent Carruthers.

Standing in the media room at the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 base at The Golfresort Weimarer Land, situated near Leipzig in East Germany, Pickford’s match got off to the worst possible start.

Among a sea of presenters and journalists in attendance, Kieran Trippier and John Stones could be seen sat at the back to watch their teammate in action – with their presence potentially more of a hindrance than a help.

“Get them out ASAP,” joked Pickford.

As the game unfolded, the tension could be cut with a knife.

Pickford even tried to cough as talkSPORT’s England correspondent looked to take her throw, leading to a light-hearted glare from Carruthers.

But the broadcaster got the last laugh as the game played out, with Pickford declaring: “Ah you’ve beaten me. What a stinker that is!”

The Everton goalkeeper hates losing on the pitch and the same can be said when competing in a game of darts, as he grimaced with a smile as he walked away.

Trippier and Stones, however, were loving it as they grinned and clapped at Carruthers’ triumph over their number one, before Stones joked “we’ve got questions” as Pickford made his way out of the room.

With the media already 2-0 up against the England players before Carruthers stepped up, her win made it 3-0 to the media team.
