Reality TV star Uriel Oputa has reacted to the frequent comparisons Nigerians make between celebrity weddings, particularly those of singers Davido and Chioma and businessman Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola.
Naijaonpoint reports that in a post on her Instagram story, Uputa pointed out that many people who engage in such debates do not have the financial capacity to replicate the type of weddings they admire.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate described the comparisons as misplaced, stressing that most critics struggle with the cost of basic wedding expenses while attempting to project an image of luxury.
She wrote: “Nigerians will be here comparing Davido & Chioma with Mr Eazi & Temi when most of you cannot even afford to afford either of them.
“In fact, na una go still borrow money just to do wedding, and still have the audacity to talk about “class” and “royalty.
“Class? Royalty? My friend, do you even have money to do one quarter?
“Hypocrites everywhere. When it’s your own wedding, you’ll be pricing aso-oke material for ₦150k, forming high class. Meanwhile, under your wedding cake, only the top tier is real cake everything else na cardboard box. 👏🏼👏🏼
“And you still get mouth to talk? “Class” this, “class” that? Abeg, commot for road! 💃😂
“Because las las, you people will go and rent a big gorilla to be dancing at the reception, then add those tall people standing on sticks jumping up and down, doing do-re-mi, do-re-mi and you’ll still be shouting “class.” 🤍 My friend, shift! we are not all the same.
“Stop judging.”
