“Stop the distractions” – Tinubu’s associate warns Senator Natasha

South-South Coordinator of The Asiwaju Group (TAG), Reuben Wilson, has issued a stern warning to suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central), urging her to cease what he described as “unpatriotic distractions” targeting Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Wilson, a former Niger Delta freedom fighter, accused Senator Natasha of engaging in conduct that undermines national stability and legislative decorum.

In a statement on Friday, Wilson referenced the recent confrontation between Senator Natasha and Senate President Akpabio, suggesting that her claims of sexual harassment may have been a calculated attempt to derail disciplinary proceedings initiated over her alleged violation of Senate rules.

His words: “The unruly and inappropriate behaviour of Senator Natasha in the hallowed chamber clearly shows she has lost focus on her legislative duties.

“Rather than be a voice for her constituents, she has become a source of distraction to the Senate and the Nigerian people.”

While affirming Senator Natasha’s constitutional right to speak out against any injustice, Wilson emphasized the need for lawmakers to operate within the bounds of parliamentary decorum and respect for Senate procedures.

“Even if she feels aggrieved, her actions must be rooted in the Senate’s extant rules. No legislator is above the law,” he added.

Wilson said the controversy over a seat reassignment was blown out of proportion by Senator Natasha, whom he accused of using emotional narratives to whip up public sympathy.

“She must focus her energy on sponsoring and supporting impactful bills, not petty seat arrangements that have no bearing on legislative effectiveness,” he advised.

The APC chieftain also cast doubt on the credibility of Natasha’s sexual harassment allegations, citing contradictions between her televised statements and those made by her husband.

“While her husband claimed he discussed the issue directly with the Senate President to demand respect for his wife, Natasha said he wasn’t aware of the harassment until she went public. This inconsistency calls her claims into question,” he argued.

Wilson further pointed out that this was not the first time Senator Natasha had made unsubstantiated allegations of sexual misconduct, referencing past accusations against public figures like Reno Omokri, Dino Melaye, and former Governor Yahaya Bello.

“Her pattern of using such allegations for political mileage is now well known. It’s a strategy aimed at gaining sympathy and avoiding accountability,” he alleged.

He warned that these antics could be part of a broader plot to destabilize the Senate leadership, with the ultimate aim of undermining President Tinubu’s administration.

“This is not just about Akpabio. It’s a larger scheme to weaken the legislative arm and obstruct President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.”

Wilson called on Senate President Akpabio to stay focused and not allow “unpatriotic elements” to distract him from delivering on his mandate.

“The 10th National Assembly under Akpabio’s leadership has been marked by legislative excellence. We must not allow petty drama to derail our national progress,” he said.
