“Stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage” – Singer Nasboi tells Nigerians refusing to get married because of 2baba and Annie’s separation

Nigerian content creator and singer Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, better known as Nasboi, has berated Nigerians using 2baba and Annie Idibia’s ongoing marital crisis as a yardstick for marriages.

Taking to the micro-blogging platform Twitter, now known as X, he noted how when a celebrity divorces, netizens begin to say marriage isn’t for them, but they forget their parents, who have been married for over 3 decades.

Nasboi admonished the public to stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage, as he noted how it is a choice to marry or not.

“1 celebrity divorce, then you begin to say this thing called marriage is not for me. Buh, you forget your parents, who have been married for over 30-something years. Stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage. If you like no marry na you sabi”.

On Sunday evening, 2baba shocked many when he announced his separation from wife of over a decade, Annie Idibia, via his Instagram page. He revealed that he and Annie have been separated for a while and are on the verge of divorce, and promised to grant a press release to share his side of the story.

The singer, in a follow-up post, claimed that his account was hacked and ... wasn’t true. Surprisingly, he made another U-turn as he shared videos of himself admitting to their crashed marriage.

Since the divorce announcement, many celebrities have been weighing into it. Taking the lead, edia personality, Toke Makinwa expressed disappointment in his behavior as she vowed to stand by Annie.

BBNaija Queen Atang expressed concern for Annie as she hoped the actress was feeling good.

BBNaija reality star, Khloe Abiri questioned why he would make such an announcement at such a point, knowing how Annie is getting mercilessly dragged on social media over her behavior on Young Famous and African reality show. She stated that she wouldn’t say anything now and hoped it was a prank unless she would join many in fighting him.

Nigerian celebrity designer Toyin Lawani stated that we shouldn’t kick someone when they are already down. She advocated for love, life, and learning.

Women advocate Ifedayo Agoro, better known as Diary of a Naija Girl on Instagram, had slammed 2baba for dumping Annie after grooming her. She expressed how angry she was and called 2baba’s behavior disgusting as she noted how 2baba had abandoned Annie during her worst moment when she was crucified by the public.

Delta State Governor’s aide Ossai Ovie Success also slammed 2baba, calling ... insensitive and disrespectful since Annie recently lost twins and was suffering intense backlash for her portrayal on Young, Famous, and African reality show.
