Experienced Super Eagles attacker Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that he would be happy to play the coming season in Sevilla colours despite enduring a disappointing start to life at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Footynaija.com reports.

Iheanacho spent the second half of the 2024/2025 season on loan at EFL Championship club Middlesbrough after struggling to stamp his mark at the La Liga club during his first six months in Seville.

During his time in England, the former Manchester City star showed some glimpses of his undeniable quality but he ultimately failed to make any significant impact for Michael Carrick’s side as Boro missed out on a playoff place.

Now back at Sevilla, Iheanacho is looking forward to the new season. The Super Eagles forward revealed that he would be happy to continue plying his trade in Seville despite the club openly expressing regret about his recruitment.

“The future? Look at the sky, the future is bright. We have a lot of things to achieve in the future, so yes, the future is bright,” he told Complete Sports.

Talking about his Sevilla future, Iheanacho continued: “I’m really excited to be here. It’s a wonderful place. It was good to go out and to feel football in a different environment.

“Seville is a great club. I loved my experience there. It’s a great team and I’ll be happy to get back there.”

Whether Iheanacho can force his way back into the Sevilla setup next season remains to be seen. Perhaps, Sevilla’s upcoming pre-season fixtures could prove pivotal in determining what the Andalusian club decides to do with the Nigerian forward.
