The Super Eagles of Nigeria are among the AFCON teams with the highest market value, but they’re not alone at the top of the chain, Soccernet.ng reports.
Hosts Morocco, alongside defending Champions Ivory Coast and then Senegal, have been tipped to win the competition, and the market value of the players in those teams is no small feat.
Individually, AFCON 2025 Player of the Year – Achraf Hakimi is the most expensive player in the tournament (€80m), closely followed by Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen (€75m) and Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo (€75m).

Market Value of the AFCON 2025 teams
24. Sudan – €2.8m
Kwesi Appiah’s men are clearly the underdogs in Morocco, if teams are to be judged solely by the worth of players in their squads.
Just eleven of the Sudanese players ply their trade outside the nation, and the most valuable player in the team is Mo Eisa (€300k), who plays for in the Thai League.
23. Botswana – €3.2m
Botswana is a modest nation with around 2.5 million inhabitants, with just five of the players in their AFCON squad playing away from the nation.

15. Mozambique – €24.95m
Mozambique are placed in the AFCON Group F alongside Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Gabon. All three of those nations hold household names.
However, Mozambique have one of Europe’s young developing midfield stars in Geny Catamo, who can spur them to a surprise campaign in Morocco. The Sporting Lisbon midfielder is Mozambique’s MVP (€15m).
14. Gabon – €31.68m
The Gabonese came close to achieving their goal of reaching the Mundial for the first time ever, but their chances were thwarted by Nigeria in the World Cup play-offs.
Surprisingly, neither Mario Lemina nor Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are Gabon’s most expensive stars. Instead, LAFC’s Denis Bouanga (€8m) takes the crown.

Bafana Bafana are one of the AFCON 2025 dark horses. They achieved their aim of reaching the World Cup for the first time since they hosted it in 2010.

11. Tunisia – €69.05m
Sami Trabelsi’s men have always been a team that presents themselves on a more united front, rather than as individuals. As such, they don’t usually house big names.
The Tunisian player with the highest market value is Burnley’s Hannibal Mejbri (€10m).
10. Burkina Faso – €118.10M
One of the ten African teams with a market value of over €100m, Burkina Faso will tackle Algeria, Equatorial Guinea and Sudan in Group E.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Brentford’s Dango Outtara are the outstanding Burkinabe stars, with a market value of €35m.
9. DR Congo – €133.50m
The Democratic Republic of Congo stunned Nigeria during the World Cup play-offs last month, and their squad value is considerably less than that of the Super Eagles.

The reigning AFCON Champions have been tipped to be front-runners in Morocco, and the value of Emerse Fae’s team certainly lends to it.
After missing the AFCON tournament the last time out, Amad Diallo’s return announces him as the most valuable Ivorian at the AFCON 2025 (€50m).
2. Senegal – €410.90m
Arguably the most complete team in Morocco, Senegal are one of the two African countries that have a market value grossing over €400m.
Pape Thiaw’s side are more valuable than Premier League sides like Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley, Fulham, Leeds United and Everton.
Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye and Bayern Munich’s Nicolas Jackson stay top of the list of Senegalese players with the highest market value (€45.00m).
1. Morocco – €434.15m
The hosts have made the tournament colourful for all, but with the support of the home crowd, they have an added advantage in the race for the AFCON 2025 tournament.
They also house the tournament’s expensive player (€80m) and CAF Player of Year all in one in Achraf Hakimi.
