Some Super Eagles stars were in action for their clubs on Sunday in their final games before reporting to the national team camp for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Soccernet.ng reports.

It was a goal-scoring spree for some of the invited players, as several of them found the net to help their European clubs claim important results.

First, it was Chidera Ejuke and Akor Adams who turned up big for Sevilla. Both Super Eagles stars, who were called up to the camp, scored to help their side defeat Real Oviedo 4-0 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

In the 4th minute, Adams was set through on goal with a nice chip pass from Alexis Sanchez in the halfway line. He then ran forward and placed a fine finish past Aaron Escandell.

Then, in the 89th minute, Ejuke wrapped up the scoring, and it was a beauty. He received the ball from Oso on the left, deftly beat three defenders, and sent the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs.

Cyriel Dessers Scores First Goal In Three Months

Cyriel Dessers joined Panathinaikos from Rangers in the summer but sustained an injury after just four games.

However, he returned to action at the end of last month, although he was only getting minutes off the bench. Sunday marked his first start for Panathinaikos since September, and he certainly turned up.

Dessers scored just five minutes into the game. It was a fixture that Panathinaikos could easily have lost, but Dessers’ strike was key in the end, as the game finished 2-1.

Salim Fago Scores in Controversial Croatian Game

New Super Eagles invitee Salim Fago Lawal scored for Istra in their Croatian top-flight game against Rijeka.

Lawal scored just five minutes into the tie. He pounced on a rebound inside the box, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and poked the ball into the net to make it 1-0. However, Luka Menalo quickly equalized for Rijeka in the 9th minute.

The game was suspended after just 18 minutes due to heavy fog. Subsequently, the match was rescheduled for January 2026.

Super Eagles Stars Hitting Form Just At The Right Time

Following their club games on Sunday, all the Super Eagles stars invited to camp will immediately make their way to Egypt to link up with the rest of the team ahead of the game against Egypt.

While all the players who featured for their clubs on Sunday will likely not play against the Pharaohs, Coach Eric Chelle will need everybody on the ground as they perfect plans for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations next week.

The Franco-Malian tactician will be glad that most of his attackers scored in their last games for their clubs before joining camp. On Saturday, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen were also involved in goals for their clubs.

That would definitely increase their belief and confidence ahead of the tournament.

Nigeria will kick off their AFCON campaign with a game against Tanzania next Tuesday.
