Fenerbahçe’s Super Eagles star Bright Osayi-Samuel has filed a formal complaint with Turkish authorities, alleging the theft of a luxury wristwatch from his home in Istanbul, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to reports from Turkish outlet Haberler, the General Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched a probe into the incident, which allegedly occurred on April 27, 2025.
The 27-year-old footballer claims he discovered the watch was missing after returning from a trip abroad.
In his testimony, Osayi-Samuel named a woman identified as Ayşenur O., a recent acquaintance, as a potential suspect.
“I am a football player at Fenerbahçe Football Club. I met a person named Ayşenur O. at an entertainment club in Şişli,” said Osayi-Samuel in his official complaint.
“We had fun together, then with her consent, we went to my house in Üsküdar. While at the venue, I had my watch on my wrist. She stayed at my house until 08:00 and I left the country later that day. I returned on April 29. I noticed the watch was missing during the first week of May. I believe it was stolen by Ayşenur O., who visited my home on April 27.”

In response, Ayşenur O. has denied the allegations.
In her statement to investigators, she acknowledged having known the footballer for three to four months and confirmed visiting his residence briefly on the day in question. However, she insists she had no involvement in the alleged theft.
“The complainant has been my friend for about three or four months,” she said.
“We went to an entertainment centre in Şişli, then later went to his [Osayi-Samuel’s] residence in Üsküdar to collect his suitcase. We were there for only 20-25 minutes before heading to the airport. I never saw any watch and did not steal anything. He messaged me via WhatsApp one and a half months later, accusing me. I told him, ‘If you have such a claim, let’s go to the official authorities together.’ I will also provide our WhatsApp conversation as evidence.”
The investigation remains ongoing.

Transfer update: Beşiktaş renew interest in Super Eagles defender Osayi-Samuel
While Osayi-Samuel deals with legal matters off the pitch, his future on the field is also under the spotlight.

With just a few days left on his Fenerbahçe contract — set to expire on June 30, 2025 — Osayi-Samuel could soon be on the move.
Turkish giants Beşiktaş are understood to have renewed their interest in the versatile defender, having previously opened talks that stalled due to salary demands.
CNN Turk now reports that Beşiktaş are willing to offer €2 million per year, edging closer to Osayi-Samuel’s earlier asking price of €2.5 million.
The Nigerian has played 178 matches for Fenerbahçe, scoring 7 goals and providing 15 assists, while also offering strong defensive contributions from both full-back and wing roles.
With no new offer on the table from Fenerbahçe, the Istanbul giants appears resigned to losing the Nigerian international for free this summer.
