Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella has pledged his immediate future to reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen after insisting that he’s loving life at the club, Footynaija.com reports.

Tella joined Bayer Leverkusen from Southampton in the summer of 2023, fresh off a very successful loan spell at Burnley. Since his arrival at the Bay Arena, the Nigeria international has gone on to become a key player for Xabi Alonso’s side.

Last season, Tella played a vital part for Die Werkself as they cruised to an unbeaten domestic double, winning their first ever Bundesliga crown as well as the DFB Pokal without suffering a single defeat.

However, things have been quite different this term with Leverkusen currently lagging behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, having suffered two defeats and already knocked out of the DFB Pokal by third tier minnows Arminia Bielefeld.

Despite these changes in fortunes and the growing speculations surrounding his future at the Bay Arena, Tella has reiterated his commitment to Die Werkself, declaring that there’s no reason for him to leave the club.

“I really like it here,” the 25-year-old forward said as per Bild.

“When I came here, I didn’t know much about the club or German football, but even in the first two weeks, I really understood what it means to play for and represent this club.

“I have no reason to leave; I’m more than happy here. I want to stay.”

Also speaking on Leverkusen’s ongoing title defense, Tella believes the race is still on despite their six-point deficit at the summit.

“A six-point gap isn’t much in football. It’s up to us; we want to win as many games as possible and get to the top.”
