SUPER Eagles of Nigeria players have sent goodwill messages of support to their colleague Victor Boniface, who has undergone knee surgery.
Boniface went under the knife on Friday after a battle with a knee injury, and Werder Bremen, the club is on loan at from Bayer Leverkusen, announced that he would not be able to return to action this season.
Boniface is not in Morocco with the Super Eagles squad, who reached the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-finals on Saturday with. 2-0 victory over Algeria.
In a video posted on Instagram, several Super Eagles are seen wishing Boniface a full recovery and assuring the striker of their full support during his rehabilitation process.
“I’m wishing you quick recovery. Stay safe. I know you’ll come back stronger,” says Galatasaray Victor Osimhen, who has scored four goals in Morocco.
“I wish you quick recovery and a successful surgery. Come back quick. I know you are stronger than this and I believe in you. Come back stronger,” adds Fulham forward Samuel Chukwueze.
Goal hero against Algeria, Sevilla striker Akor Adams, says: “At this tough moment, we are all with you. I wish you all the strength and God’s healing.”
The video ends with full-back Bright Osayi-Samuel saying: “Hi Vic, I want to wish you a quick recovery. I heard the news and I know you’ll be back stronger. Thanks for the message also for yesterday. I saw it. I appreciate it. Thank you.”
Boniface had confirmed the surgery on Friday with posts on social media.
“BBL done and dusted,” he joked, attaching a picture of his hospital room with crutches inside.
“Omo if he reach ur turn make depression wound you.”
Boniface, who has been a key figure for both club and country, is now expected to focus on recovery as he looks forward to returning to action.
