Super Falcons draw Zambia, Egypt in tough 2026 WAFCON group

THE Super Falcons of Nigeria will face Zambia, Egypt and Malawi in Group C of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), the draw for the tournament has revealed.

The Super Falcons, who won a record-extending 10th WAFCON title last year, will play their group games at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, as Morocco gets set to host the tournament for the third time in a row.

The Super Falcons’ match against Zambia’s Copper Queens will be the third consecutive edition of the tournament the two teams are facing each other.

While Zambia won the clash, the third-place match, 1-0 in the 2022 edition, the Super Falcons had their revenge last year with a 5-0 thrashing in the quarter-finals.

According to the schedule released by CAF after today’s draw in Morocco, the Super Falcons will open their campaign against Malawi on March 18 and play Zambia three days later.

The defending champions will round off the group stage on March 24.

Hosts Morocco, runners-up in the last two editions of the WAFCON, are in Group A against Algeria, Kenya, and Senegal.

South Africa are with Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Tanzania in Group B.

Rivals Ghana and Cameroon are in Group D alongside Mali and Cape Verde at the Complexe Sportif de Fez.

The 2026 WAFCON is scheduled for March 17 to April 3.

This year’s edition will serve as the qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The top four teams will represent Africa in the World Cup billed for Brazil.

South Africa, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Tanzania (Rabat Al Madina Stadium)
