SUPER Falcons star Michelle Alozie has been included in a list of players in contention for spots in the 2025 FIFPRO Women’s World XI, an annual global award voted for by professional footballers.
FIFPRO is the union of professional footballers all over the world.
The FIFPRO World XI features players, as voted for by fellow professional players, considered the best in the world in their respective positions.
Alozie, who plays for Houston Dash in the USA Women’s Soccer League, is named among eight defenders nominated for the exclusive line-up, along with Millie Bright, Lucy Bronze, Alex Greenwood, Leah Williamson (all England), Ona Batlle, Olga Carmona (both Spain) and Ellie Carpenter (Australia).
The 28-year-old full-back shone during the Super Falcons’ run to their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in July, earning a spot in the Team of the Tournament for her outstanding performances.
More than 25,000 professional players vote each year to select the World XI, which recognises the standout performers across a calendar year.
The final team consists of one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards, with the 11th spot going to the outfield player with the next highest vote count.
The FIFPRO Women’s World 11 will be revealed next Monday.
While Alozie is the only Nigerian among the women nominees, there is no player from the country in the men’s World XI.
