Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe was on the scoresheet as Benfica sealed a historic fifth consecutive Portuguese Liga BPI title with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Valadares Gaia on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.

Knowing a win would secure the title with two games to spare, Benfica travelled to Vila Nova de Gaia with purpose and composure. Ucheibe broke the deadlock in the 29th minute, rising highest to power home a well-delivered corner and hand the visitors the early advantage.

Spanish striker Cristina Martín-Prieto, the league’s top scorer, added a second just before the break, netting her 18th goal of the season after a superb team move. The result was put beyond doubt in the 76th minute when Beatriz Cameirão lashed home a one-time strike from the edge of the box, sparking celebrations among the travelling fans.

The result moved Benfica eight points clear of nearest rivals Sporting CP, who also won on the day, and confirmed their dominance of Portuguese women’s football for a fifth season running. With 18 wins and two draws from 20 matches, Filipa Patão’s side remain unbeaten this campaign.

Benfica women have now lifted a record 5th League Cup and a 5th League title. Benfica are also on a 25 game undefeated streak, spanning over six months and three different competitions.

It is now 11 titles for Ucheibe simce she joined Benfica in 2020.

Benfica’s triumph also secures them automatic qualification for the 2025–26 UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage as they seek to make their mark on the European stage.

Ucheibe will now turn her focus to international duty as she joins the Super Falcons for the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria will face Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania in Group C.
