The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has revealed a new look at Yoshi and teases the arrival of two more beloved characters in the upcoming sequel. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie‘s story will see Mario return for a new adventure, this time inspired by Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy games. The trailer is also expected to arrive later this morning.
Now, IGN has posted images from a leaked box of Pillsbury Yoshi egg cookies, which offer a first look at Yoshi in The Super Mario Galaxy movie. The front and back of the box also heavily feature the Comet Observatory, the location in the Super Mario Galaxy games where Rosalina resides. It’s a strong hint she’ll appear in the sequel.
In addition, the back of the box includes a star map connecting various planets, many of which look like familiar locations from the games. Mario and Yoshi can also be seen in the top right corner in their classic pose from the cover of Super Mario Galaxy 2. A Bowser Jr. graffiti marking is also present, confirming his appearance in the movie.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie‘s post-credits scene offered a first look at Yoshi hatching from his egg in Brooklyn, confirming his appearance in the forthcoming sequel. It wasn’t until September 2025 that the sequel’s title was officially revealed. However, this Pillsbury box has offered more details about what to expect from the movie when it arrives.
Not only will Mario be working with Yoshi, as in the second game in the sub-franchise, but it seems Rosalina will also be showing up. In the Super Mario Galaxy games, Rosalina is the Watcher of the Stars, protecting the Lumas. In the first game, she enlists Mario’s help after Bowser steals the Grand Observatory’s Power Stars and Grand Stars.
As for Bowser Jr., he first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine, but shows up in both Super Mario Galaxy games. He has a more prominent role in Super Mario Galaxy 2, where he shows up frequently after Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and takes her to space. His graffiti appearing indicates he may have a similar movie role.
With two new characters from the franchise confirmed, alongside a look at how accurate Yoshi is, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is primed to be another Easter egg-filled adventure in the world of Mario. The Pillsbury box also promises an adventure across multiple planets, something that can contain even more references to the video game duology.
