Super Mario Galaxy Trailer Reveals New Nintendo Worlds & Bowser’s Iconic Next Target

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie‘s first trailer has debuted. 2023 saw the hit video game adaptation The Super Mario Bros. Movie, starring Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Seth Rogen. The movie was an undeniable success, grossing $1.36 billion worldwide thanks to its charming nostalgia and humor, as well as the A-list cast.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie‘s post-credits scene teased a sequel that would introduce the character of Yoshi; the follow-up was shortly officially confirmed. Around a month ago, it was announced that the movie’s title would be The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, after the specific game that sees Mario traversing the galaxy to save Princess Peach from Bowser.

Now, as part of Nintendo Direct, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie‘s first trailer has been revealed. Alongside the trailer’s release, the voice actors of Rosalina and Bowser Jr. were announced, Brie Larson and Benny Safdie, respectively. The official title announcement prompted further speculation about how the Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel would introduce Rosalina, the mother of the Lumas and a critical character in the Super Mario Galaxy game. The trailer confirms as much, showing Rosalina fending off an attack on her home, while the other main characters visit new Nintendo worlds.

It also offers a first look at the cinematic take on Bowser Jr., who is stepping up as a major villain. As Bowser is still miniaturized and imprisoned by the heroes, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie‘s plot will kick off with Bowser Jr. coming to rescue his father, allowing him to be a source of conflict again, as the trailer shows.

While beloved by audiences, The Super Mario Bros. Movie received mixed critical reviews, and The Super Mario Galaxy movie will probably be met with the same reception. It offers the same highly entertaining and nostalgic type of storytelling, with some iconic actors with a variety of experiences breathing new life into the classic characters as they go on riotous adventures.
