Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have killed three officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) during an attack at Bakin Ruwa, along the Maje border in the Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Naijaonpoint learnt that the attack, which occurred on Thursday midnight, has sparked fear and panic in the area.

A source who spoke to Leadership said the officers had taken cover in a mosque close to their point, but the gunmen followed them and began firing sophisticated arms, setting the mosque ablaze while the officers were inside.

The terrorists also razed the officers’ quarters during the attack.

At the time of filing this report, the concerned authorities have released no official statement regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu, has pledged to deal decisively with the Lakurawa terrorists, who have been terrorising parts of northern Nigeria.

Shaibu, who was recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu, gave the assurance during his screening before the Senate.

“The Army will deal decisively with the new bandit group known as Lakurawa. It requires a whole-of-society approach. While security is not cheap, we will ensure effective management of available resources,” he told lawmakers.

The new Army chief recounted his military experience, noting his role as a commanding officer in Borno State, where he was actively involved in counterinsurgency operations.
