SZA is setting the record straight about her online beef with Nicki Minaj.
The singer, who usually avoids the chaos of celebrity feuds, ended up linked to a few of them including one involving Nicki Minaj and another connected to the long-running tension between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
In a new GQ interview, SZA addressed the moment last summer when Minaj accused her manager, Terrence “Punch” Henderson of Top Dawg Entertainment, of bullying.
At the time, Minaj claimed the singer “look[ed] & sound[ed] like she got stung by a f–king bee.”
SZA says she was blindsided by the claim. “I don’t even know her,” she explained, adding that the situation seemed to come out of nowhere. She chose not to get too involved, saying it wasn’t her place to correct a narrative that didn’t concern her.
The conversation also turned to the feud between Lamar and Drake, which drew attention partly because SZA works closely with Lamar and has collaborated with Drake in the past. SZA made it clear she had no plans to pick sides. “That’s between two grown men,” she said. “I have love for both of them.”
