Kirk, who was shot and killed during a speaking event at Utah Valley University earlier this week, has long been a divisive figure for his remarks on women’s rights, marriage, DEI, and race. While some of his supporters are mourning, plenty of critics have been openly indifferent.
But Tamera — best known for her role in Sister, Sister and as co-host on The Real — had a problem with that indifference.
On Instagram Stories, she shared a video clip from God’s Scouse House and blasted people who weren’t extending compassion, writing:
“Only the DEMONIZED celebrate death.”
The Internet Claps Back
The reaction was swift and unforgiving. Social media users accused Tamera of defending a man who spent years spewing divisive rhetoric.
One user fired back: “We’re not celebrating, we just don’t give a f-ck.”
Another pointed out Kirk’s own words: “He said he hated empathy. He said awful things about Black people. Why should we show compassion when he never would’ve shown it for us?”
A third commenter summed it up: “No one is throwing a party. People are just refusing to extend grace to someone who openly preached against compassion.”
The Controversy
Tamera’s comments hit especially hard given her marriage to Adam Housley, a former Fox News commentator. Many users claimed her statement revealed a political leaning closer to her husband’s than they previously thought.
Now, she’s being accused of “tone policing” and centering the conversation on morality rather than acknowledging why so many people had issues with Kirk’s legacy in the first place.
Adam has made insensitive posts about Trayvon Martin, an innocent Black child murdered by an open racist George Zimmerman.
