THE Chairman of the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ibrahim Tukur, has confirmed that Governor Agbu Kefas will formally join the party in January 2026.
Governor Kefas had earlier postponed his planned defection, originally scheduled for November 19, following the abduction of several students in Kebbi State.
Addressing journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, Tukur disclosed that the party had taken decisive action by suspending certain ward executives for breaching the APC constitution.
He urged dissatisfied members to fully explore the party’s internal dispute resolution processes before seeking redress in court.
Tukur, speaking on behalf of the state working committee, also announced the reversal of the suspension of Abel Peter, the Taraba State Assembly member representing Mbamga Constituency, who had been sanctioned by his ward for alleged anti-party activities.
He dismissed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s claim of reclaiming Taraba State as unrealistic, stressing that the APC has already secured control of the state government and has no intention of relinquishing it.
