Taraba State Deputy Governor, Aminu Alkali, has returned to office after being away from official duties since November 2024 due to health challenges.

A video released recently showed Alkali in his office, reviewing files alongside aides who welcomed him back. However, the exact date of his resumption has not been disclosed.

During his absence, some responsibilities were delegated to the Deputy Chief of Staff, Emmanuel Lawson, who oversaw activities in his office.

The state government had in March confirmed that Alkali was undergoing treatment, assuring residents of his eventual return. At a briefing after the State Executive Council meeting, Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Zainab Usman, disclosed that the deputy governor had suffered a stroke which temporarily affected his ability to speak.

According to her, Alkali initially received treatment in Abuja before being transferred to Cairo, Egypt, for further medical checks. She urged residents to show understanding and compassion, noting that illness could affect anyone.
