PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that there will be no reversal of the controversial tax reform recently introduced by his administration.

He made this statement during his first presidential media chat, which aired yesterday night, emphasizing that the economy cannot be revitalized using outdated methods.

“Tax reform is here to stay; we cannot keep doing what we did in the past in today’s economy. We cannot reshape this economy with old, ineffective practices, and I believe I have the capability to do this, which is why I entered the race,” Tinubu stated.

“I am focused on what Nigeria needs and what I must accomplish for the country. It won’t be a paradise for everyone, but a new era is upon us, and I am confident you should be as well.”

On October 3, Tinubu submitted four tax reform bills to the National Assembly. These proposals have sparked significant controversy, particularly facing strong opposition from the Northern regions of the country.

In response to the backlash, the National Economic Council advised President Tinubu to withdraw the bills for further consultation, but he declined, insisting they should proceed through the appropriate legislative channels.
