The Call of Duty movie has just tapped one massive creative team. As video games are rapidly getting adapted for the big and small screens through film and TV, one of the biggest ones is heading to theaters, with Call of Duty getting adapted as a live-action project at Paramount.
Per Paramount, Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg have come on board for Paramount’s upcoming Call of Duty live-action film. The duo has been tapped to write the screenplay together, while Berg will be directing the video game adaptation.
The news came only a few days after it was revealed that Sheridan was leaving Paramount, as he has signed a new film and TV deal with NBCUniversal, which goes into effect as of January 1, 2029, once his current deal has ended. The Paramount deal is set to expire in 2028.
According to Deadline, Paramount has been trying to get both of them since this summer. It was Sheridan who was still determining whether he would produce or write the Call of Duty movie before making the call to do both tasks.
The film adaptation was first announced on September 2, 2025, with Paramount and Activision joining forces to bring the iconic game to life as a movie. At the time, Paramount’s David Ellison gave the following statement about seeing one of his passion projects being developed by his studio:

From the first Allied campaigns in the original Call of Duty, through Modern Warfare and Black Ops, I’ve spent countless hours playing this franchise that I absolutely love. Call of Duty now marks one of the latest collaborations between Berg and Sheridan, as they previously worked on Wind River, as well as the Academy Award-nominated Hell or High Water. Neither creative has commented at this time.
No story or character details are known at this time, given that the Call of Duty live-action movie adaptation was only revealed over a month ago. The film currently doesn’t have a set release date.
